We are so glad you are joining us for the inaugural year of the Educators Institute. This unique experience promises to be a transformative journey, enriching your teaching skills and fostering innovative educational practices. As we embark on this collaborative and engaging endeavor, your expertise and enthusiasm will be instrumental in shaping a vibrant learning community. Together, we look forward to exploring new horizons in teaching and learning, and making a lasting impact in the world of education.

Program Outcomes

By the end of the EIP, participants will be able to:

  • Apply research-based course design and learning principles to redesign their courses.

  • Embed High Impact Practice Quality Elements into their course design.

  • Increase student learning, interaction, engagement, and success with applied course design concepts.

  • Embed inclusivity, diversity, and equity-mindedness into each dimension of their course.

Session Format

The Educators Institute will begin with two initial retreat sessions on January 9th and 16th, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

The retreat will be followed by regular sessions held from 8:30 am to 9:45 am every Tuesday and Thursday from January 23 through May 2. These sessions will include 12 Course Design (CD) sessions, mainly on Tuesdays, and facilitated by Connie Schroeder. These sessions will require participants to complete one or two designs each week for feedback. Please be sure to bring your computers.

Alongside, there will be 12 additional Thursday sessions, paired to the preceding Tuesday Course Design sessions. These Thursday sessions will provide additional examples, resources, guest speakers, and tools related to CiP concepts. Thursdays will likewise offer attendees space for individual design time to work through CiP activities and apply content from the weekly sessions. Many Thursdays will make space for Design Team Time as well: participants will be grouped into teams of three based on pre-surveys and help each other via peer reviews, brainstorming, and mutual support.

The Educator will conclude with a celebratory brunch for all participants and facilitators on Thursday, May 2nd.

Confidentiality

The participants’ materials, courses, syllabi, surveys, and feedback are confidential and shared only among Educators Institute facilitators and staff. Please do not share participants’ materials without their permission.
